Trails Not Rails Jam

Even tho the Down and Dirty Contest was going on in Asbury, the Radiation locals decided to have a little get together for the Hallowween. Some people got dressed up, some just came and rode. The trails were in amazing shape, I haven't seen them look and ride this good ever. You could tell they busted ass over the last couple of weeks to get the place so good.

Saw K and Tex from Bridge - they both were riding great. K manualed all the Cocktails and was getting inside tables on the hip in the Box 'o Chocolates. Tex's t-downs were dope. Brick guys Alex, Greenhoe were riding awesome. Too much to list and rode everything there. Radiation locals owned the place. John trying the Tom Hanks was the burliest thing I've seen in a real long time. Walter was riding great and giving me pointers. I can't wait to get back and ride the Box's again - that hip section is rad - just a cool feeling dropping into the berm.

PA WOODS VIDEO

I just watched the new PAWOODS video called "fun or whatever you call it."

It's easily the best video I've seen in a long time. (It's about 90% trails)  The whole thing was good, including the bonus sections. At no point did I feel like skipping any sections - I was pretty shocked.

I highly recommend this video. It's pretty cheap too - $12 shipped to your door.

Go buy it here - http://www.pawoods.com

Father's Day

This past Sunday saw a nice little group of us riding. John, Crissy, Aiden and Frank stopped by and it was real good to see and ride with them. Mike and Matt got some morning runs in. Jeff was trying out the much needed new tires. Chris and a friend came by towards the end for some runs as well.

A few little things that happened: 2nd berm in the Mains getting ridden in nicely. Chris got the lip back into the warmups. That section is real close to being dialed. Cliffside's coming back with the first 2 sets feeling good. Chris bucked his way over the non-running 3rd set and back into the Gundams. 26" wheels and his light/smooth style looked to have helped. John going sooo high off of everything and railing the first berm like AmTrac. Frank's timeless trail style w/ tire grabs, Tobaggens, and x's. Mike's turndowns and perfectly sideways trail whips. I could watch that stuff all day. Smooth lines finally getting worn into the runs.

All in all, a very good Father's Day.

Fenway Trails RIP/Charles River Trail Petition

The Fenway Trails were plowed not too long ago. I got to ride that place years ago while in Boston. It was nothing too crazy but definitely a nice gem within the city. Jody at Timeless is looking to get some trails built near the skatepark that is going in near the Charles River on the Cambridge side soon.

Trails in Manhattan?

Found this while on one of the forums the other day. Looks like they're building a legal dirt jump area in NYC.

Mark your calendars now- we need the biggest turnout of riders the city has ever seen to to knock out the dirt jump park, polish up the freeride trail, and assist IMBA subcontractors (and pro riders) Jeff Lenosky, Kyle Ebbett and Judd deVall in building our Highbridge dirt jump park in Inwood, Manhattan.

The full-time crew will be in there starting Monday, March 12, with heavy machinery. If you're available during the week to help out, we would love your help.

On Saturdays, March 17 & 24 starting at 9 am, we'll be amassing a small army of volunteers to help with the dirt jumps and pump track, as well as to rework sections of the freeride trail that need attention and continue work on some of the XC trails. This is a major opportunity to build amazing trails with the help of IMBA and NYC Parks (and some top national riders). Tell everyone you know!

The jump park is located at the northern tip of Highbridge Park in Inwood, Manhattan. Parking is available along Fort George Ave., and the park is easily accessible from the 1 train at Dyckman Street.

Not much else going on. After being able to ride up and thru December, Jan & especially Feb have been full on winter conditions. I've gotten some decent days on the snowboard and it's been nice to change it up for a bit. Although I'll be prety siked when some warmer temps come and I can start work at the trails and the ramps at my house.
